The Air and Space Forces Association
National Convention was held during the period
of September 9 -13, 2023 in National Harbor,
Maryland. The State of Alabama had 7
delegates at the conference with Chapter 102
having 6 of them.

Some highlights of the conference was the
AFA Board of Directors unanimously votes to
rename the AFA National Teacher of the Year
Award after two AFA Education Council leaders
who led the Teacher of the Year program for
many years, Mary Anner Thompson and Susan Mallett from Chapter 102.

Chapter 102 Members at the Nations Capital
Both Thompson and Mallett have been the recipients of several
significant AFA National Award recognitions, which included Member of the
Year, Board of Director Members, and Distinguished Sustained AE Awards.
Instead of office calls with the Alabama Congressional Delegation, the
Alabama Delegation hosted 13 Congressional Staffer for a luncheon at the
Capitol Hill Club.

Col Richardson, 42 ABW/CC was present and gave a
short update on his vision for the future of the Maxwell/Gunter complexes,
which was well received by the attendees.
