Montgomery Chapter 102 works diligently to expose the educators and youth of our region to the wonders and opportunities of aerospace education.

Each year, the chapter invites area 4th grade students to tour Maxwell Air Force Base:

Ø  Introducing them to the historic contributions of the Wright Brothers at MAFB;

Ø  Exposing them to a variety of Air Force and aerospace career mentors, such as air traffic controllers and pilots;

Ø  Providing an array of aerospace/STEM educational activities;

Ø  Welcoming young adult role models into their lives from Officer Training School students and Auburn’s ROTC Arnold Air Society and Silver Wings chapter members; and

Ø  Rewarding winners of the annual AE Essay Contest with awards and flights in Civil Air Patrol airplanes.

To help perpetuate an interest in teachers to promote science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) subjects and careers to their students, the Montgomery Chapter provides an assortment of unique aerospace/STEM opportunities for educators/students:

Ø  AFA Aerospace Chapter Teacher of the Year Award

Ø  AFA’s Middle and High School CyberPatriot Program

Ø  AFA’s Elementary Cyber Education Initiative

Ø  AFA’s High School StellarXplorers Program

Ø  AFA’s Educator Grant Program

Ø  Summer Teacher Workshops and Trips

Ø  Professional Development Sessions during

Civil Air Patrol’s Teacher Orientation Program (TOP) Flights
